24. – 28. March | American Association of Geographers, Detroit.
With the rise of neoliberal urbanisation, alongside climate and economic uncertainties, and conflicts that disrupt agrarian livelihoods and global food chains, the agrarian question is gaining renewed relevance in urban studies. This panel examines the interconnectedness of agrarian landscapes and urbanisation, highlighting, on the one hand, the erosion of peasant and pastoral livelihoods due to the enclosure of land, and, on the other, the resurgence of alternative food networks in the fallows of speculative urbanism.
