Lecturer: Prof. Wu Gang, WSP Architects, China
China’s land fiscal policies over 25 years have spurred economic growth and urbanisation, easing housing shortages and raising living standards. However, financial leverage promoted gated communities with standardised designs, altering environments, and traditions. Amid China’s economic transition, residential development focuses on urban renewal. Prof. Wu Gang explores how WSP Architects adopt reflective practices to reconcile tensions between urban space, regulations, and commercial models, striving to rebuild everyday life.
